Séminaire de Jean-Philippe Brantut (EPFL)

  • Séminaire (général)
  • Evénement scientifique

Séminaire du Professeur Jean-Philippe BRANTUT, de l'Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), le 12 avril à 11h,  dans l'auditorium de l'Institut d'Optique Graduate School à Palaiseau, sur le thème : " Quantum simulation with atoms and photons ".

Résumé : "Cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) is one of the most powerful frameworks to observe and leverage quantum phenomena. While it has been thoroughly studied for simple quantum systems such as single atoms or harmonic oscillators, it has only recently become available for complex, correlated many-body systems. In this talk, I will present the combination of cavity QED with Fermi gases. I will describe how photon exchange between atoms in the cavity lead to the formation of charge-density wave order exhibiting a new class of universal dynamical behavior, as well as magnetism. I will then present some of our most recent technological developments combining cavity QED with high-resolution microcopy, and the perspectives it opens for exploring phenomena from condensed matter and high-energy physics."
