Seminar given by Félix FAISANT

  • Séminaire des Doctorants
  • Evénement scientifique

Seminar given by Félix FAISANT, PhD student in the Quantum gases group of the Laboratoire Charles Fabry, on 1st June 2023 at 1.15pm in the Auditorium of the Institut d'Optique Graduate School in Palaiseau, on the topic: "Propagation of correlations in the relaxation dynamics of a quantum gas".

Abstract: "In this seminar, aimed at non-specialists, I will explain how we recently achieved Bose-Einstein condensation of strontium 84 with the strontium LCF machine. I will explain (in a hopefully pedestrian way) laser cooling of strontium, transport and evaporative cooling down to degeneracy. I will conclude by outlining the actual goals of the experiment, namely the simulation of the 2D Bose-Hubbard system, its observation with a quantum gas microscope, and the out-of-equilibrium exploration close to the phase transition".
