Igor Ferrier-Barbut, from the Quantum Optics group of the LCF, receives a "Starting" grant for his project CORSAIR (controlled subradiance in atomic arrays).
The objective of the CORSAIR project is to explore a new experimental approach based on the use of ordered arrays of two-level atoms to study subradiance, i.e. the suppression of collective spontaneous emission. To this end, the project will aim to develop new experimental protocols, with a platform capable of controlling the collective dissipation in an ensemble of atoms, by an addressing method that locally modifies their interaction with a resonant excitation field.
