Concentrateurs luminescents pour l'étalonnage de diagnostics de pyrométrie optique

Thesis defense of Maxime NOURRY-MARTIN, PhD student in the Lasers group of the LCF, on Wednesday 06 December 2023 at 2pm in the Auditorium of the Institut d'Optique Graduate School in Palaiseau, on the topic: "Luminescent concentrators for calibration of Streaked Optical Pyrometer: application to laser-driven plasmas."

Abstract: "This thesis focuses on the development of a method for calibrating streaked optical pyrometers in high power laser facilities. Knowledge of temperature is a key element in understanding the behaviour of materials in the extreme conditions generated by this type of facility. Indeed, it is the most discriminating parameter for equation of state models. However, temperature is still poorly understood and has high relative measurement uncertainties (30%). It is therefore necessary to improve the accuracy of temperature measurements. One way of doing this is to develop a new calibration source. This source is a Ce:YAG luminescence concentrator pumped by LEDs. It provides a unique combination of power and luminance that cannot be achieved with current incoherent sources. The first part of the presentation will describe the first calibration under nominal conditions of an optical pyrometry diagnostic. The second part will focus more broadly on the potential of luminescence concentrators for calibration of streaked optical pyrometers."
