Seminar given by Mathilde Hugbart (CNRS - INstitut de PHYsique de Nice (INPHYNI)) on 25 April 2022 at 11am in the auditorium of the Institut d'Optique in Palaiseau, on the topic: "Intensity correlations: from atoms to stars".
Abstract: "The study of fluctuations and correlations often gives access to information not contained in averaged values. Among the many statistical properties of a fluctuating field, the intensity correlation function is largely used in different fields, from astronomy, to quantum optics, particle physics, and to mesoscopic optics. In this talk, I will present what has been recently done with this technique to study the light scattered by a cold atomic cloud as well as our recent development to revive intensity interferometry in astronomy."
